Increase Metabolism for Faster Weight Loss

What Does Metabolism Have To Do With Weight Loss?

Increasing the metabolic rate is vital to losing weight. Metabolism, as defined in Wikipedia is:

Metabolism is the set of chemical reactions that happen in living organisms to maintain life. These processes allow organisms to grow and reproduce, maintain their structures, and respond to their environments. Metabolism is usually divided into two categories. Catabolism breaks down organic matter, for example to harvest energy in cellular respiration. Anabolism, uses energy to construct components of cells such as proteins and nucleic acids.

What does this have to do with weight loss? The chemical reaction above Woman Increase Metabolismtakes energy, and energy needs calories. Therefore, the more the metabolic rate is increased, the more calories are burned.

Increase Metabolic Rate For Faster Weight Loss

1. With every meal, eat protein. Not only does protein fill you up faster, it also regulates fat. This is because, as protein is eaten, it stimulates the release of a hormone called glucagon. Glucagon helps reign in hormones that tend to store fat.

2. Stay away from refined carbohydrates. These carbs can block the fat burning metabolism from working correctly. That’s because they break down and put a lot of sugar into the blood. Your body then needs to take energy used for breaking down fats in order to break down these sugars.

3. Drink eight glasses of water per day. This is a common thing to hear, but this has drastic positive effects for increasing metabolism and fat loss. Dehydration makes the body’s temperature go down. This decrease in temperature is enough to make the body increase fat production to warm up the body.

4. Use resistance exercises. Every pound of muscle burns about 50 calories per day at rest.  Therefore, the more muscle that is kept and built, the faster the body will burn calories and fat.

The four tips above all increase the metabolic rate and therefore, increase the body’s fat burning potential. Again, the more the metabolic rate increases, the more calories and the more fat will be decreased.
