Common Sense Reasons for Why You Are Still Fat

Unless you have a medical or health problem that prevents you from losing weight, the following are the reasons you are still overweight.

1. You Don’t Move Around Enough.

This is real common sense. If you don’t move around, you won’t lose enough calories. If you don’t lose calories, you won’t lose weight.

So why aren’t you doing this? Time? Laziness? Procrastination?

Here are some solutions:

  • Don’t use elevators or escalators.
  • Instead of letting the dog out in the backyard, take him for a walk.
  • Take your kids or grand children to the park and stay off the bench.
  • Only watch Oprah on a stationary bike.

2. You Drink Calories

You may not realize it, but you can swallow hundreds of calories in minutes. Flavored coffees, sodas, smoothies, and so on are fast fat packing yummies. They taste good, but what a difference to calorie intake if you just stop. Can you resist?

Here are some solutions:

  • Don’t put sugar or cream in your coffee. There are so many exotic flavors to coffee, don’t you want to try them all without hiding the flavors.
  • Carry a bottle of water with you all the time. Makes it easier to skip a soda if you can quench your thirst right away.
  • If you have to have soda, only have it on a weekend as a treat and reward.
  • If you like smoothies, have it only be fruit.

3. You Eat Too Much

Another super common sense point. The idea of losing fat is to burn more calories than you add. If you consume more extra calories than you can get rid of, you will getter more fat or stay overweight.

Here are some solutions:

  • Keep a food journal and keep track of everything that you eat and drink. Knowing the amount of calories you are consuming is the one of the most important pieces of information needed for weight loss.
  • If you have to have sweets and junk food, limit it to one specific day and treat it as a reward. Hopefully, you will be able to eventually do without.
  • Avoid fast food like the plague.
  • Enjoy your food. In other words, eat slower.
  • Drink an entire glass of water before you eat a meal.

There you go…….common sense. Does not mean it’s easy though. There is no common sense ways to get and stay motivated. If there were, then losing weight would not be an issue.
